February Art Journal Pages
February. A new month and that means an art journal page swap in Creative Crafty Friends. This month we made two pages. One was supposed to have animals and the second was supposed to be some of our own original art. Let me show what I made and mailed out.
I began like I do most projects - with a gelli print. I trimmed it down to 5" x 7" and inked those edges with black Archival ink. The black dots for texture were added with a stencil, a finger dabber and the same ink pad - using my dab and stab technique. The washi tape was a surprise sent to me from Joggles. And the mushrooms are a snippet off one of Barb's collage sheets. This was the base for my animals page.
These are the animals and critters I wanted to use. Plus I had a couple backups in case this didn't work. Here I was just playing with placement of elements - where each would look best. I knew the rabbit and the cat were my primary pieces.
Each of these animals and birds came from collage sheets Barb has on the Joggles site. I ran them through my sticker machine, trimmed them out and popped them in place. The sentiment came from a Studio Light Art by Marlene set. Looking good so far, but missing some finishing touches.
The pink and teal dots (those are my colors) were made with Jane Davenport's Paint Over Pens. I used watercolors to fill in the glasses and the detail work on the bunny's shirt.

These are both so cool! You have such a unique style!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sandra, I really enjoy making pages like this
DeleteAh - that second one is definitely my favourite - but then there's that colour again that I do always seem to pick out: green! (I can't wear green, just wrong colour for me!!) The cat with it's paws along the edge just makes me chuckle & all your little bits of colour added to the rabbit really make the difference - especially the inside of his ear plus his blushing nose. It's all in the details. But....... that flower................. just deliciously satisfying.
