What a Year!

Image
That title says it all. What a year! So thankful it is almost over and I can start anew in 2023! In fact - I made this page in my daily journal to celebrate. Hahahaha! Never mind that it's been almost a year since I 'daily journaled'. It's been that bad of a year.  I began by pulling together all the awesome things I wanted to include. I began with a piece of colorful painted paper from Niki Green - I love her work so much! The postcard is a Nostalgie postcard from Hahnemühle that I used to clean brushes on, then added some art. The larger tangled piece of art is from last year. My hands still shake and this kind of art doesn't come easy to me right now. Anyone who knows me well knows Tinkerbell is my favorite character. I liked the strip I cut off a piece of art and kept. I thought it might work well. And chocolates. Cause it's always a good time for chocolate.  I needed Niki's piece of art to adhere well so I lined it with double sided Scor tape . Gre

A Little Twinchietober Fun

I have to apologize for not getting the week three tangles to you earlier. Twinchietober is going great at Tangle All Around on Facebook. The October 15th tangle Bridges was designed by Randi Ziegler. A tangleation of Sharps which Randi Jameson introduced in the book Life in Tangles .  My husband had a full hip replacement surgery at the beginning of this week and I have been busy taking care of him, getting him on his feet and he is doing great! On October 16th we worked with Champ , designed by Antje Romers. It is a great fill pattern and it can be used as a fragment. Let me give you a few points in case you are new to Twinchietober. A twinchie is a 2" square of paper that we draw our designs on. And since we are doing this in October I came up with the name Twinchietober.  All the patterns - or tangles - we are using were designed by members of my FB group Tangle All Around . The October 17th pattern is Connect , designed by Shweta Bansal.  We are drawing the tangles on our t

Did Somebody Say 'Wonky Dolls?'

Image
Creative Crafty Friends on Facebook is doing a collage swap I thought I could easily do since I haven't crafted in months. Literally months. I am trying to get my mojo back as it were. This particular swap called for two collaged wonky paper dolls that include the use of magazine pictures. I began by pulling items from my collage pile that I thought could be useful.  I never buy magazines. The closest thing I have to magazines is when the AARP monthly shows up. Hahahaha! I cut a few heads out awhile back and threw them into my collage drawer. I figured I could use them for this swap. The other items are bits I have from Art By Marlene and Dina Wakley's Collage Collective. The next step was to run all the pieces through my sticker machine . Those magazine photos are really thin. You can see the reverse side right through the paper. Ugh.  I began by cutting out all the pieces. Here is how I envisioned my first wonky doll to turn out. I wasn't entirely sure about those glass

Sharing My Week Two So Far

Image
Week two of Twinchietober is almost over and I thought I would share what I've done so far.  My Facebook group Tangle All Around  is working together this month using patterns designed by members of our group. Each week I give them seven tangles to use during that week. The fun part is we are drawing on teeny tiny little 2" squares of paper. That means you can fit tangling into your day somewhere. No pressure. The October 6th tangle is called Boltz. It was designed by Patience Snell. I combined it with Printemps - you know I use them in almost everything I draw.  The tangle for October 8th is called Pillared. A great 3D pattern designed by Uttara Shidore. There are some really amazing drawings using pillared in the group . Some that make you think you could just reach out and touch them - they are that well shaded and 3D'ed.  You may have noticed - maybe not and that's ok - I don't have a drawing for October 7th. My brain just could not wrap around the steps. So

Gifts of Hope

You all know I have been battling cancer this past year. At the beginning of that journey I met a wonderful lady on Facebook. Her name is Trish Hafely and she has a really fun group called Trish Rocks & Things . They are primarily a rock painting group and they are very talented. If you have ever thought about rock painting this is the group for you.  Just after we moved to Georgia I received a package from Trish. Inside were seven wrapped packages and a note to open one each day for a week - meant to encourage me in my fight and I love them all. This is what I opened on day #1.  Day #2. The New International Version reads From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another. It wasn't long after opening all these rocks/blessings that I received the all clear from my oncologist. After the chemo rounds all my cancer is now gone. What a blessing! I am so thankful for every single one of you who prayed for me.   Day #3 and maybe my favorite. My sister San
