Working on 100 Days of Tangling

Image
100 Days of Tangling. Sounds like a fun project, right? We are doing this in my FB group Tangle All Around . We started on January 1st and will continue for a total of 100 days. The main idea is to create  a tangled piece of art each day for one hundred days at which time it should have become a habit. A tangle habit. There are worse things. Yes? Hahahaha! Kind of like the covid mess I got on day 8. I am just now at the point where I feel like doing something again. And this was the page I made yesterday, January 21. Let me walk you through it.  Sometime ago I took twenty sheets of Bristol Illustration paper from Hahnemühle and cut them in half making a great set of forty landscape pages. I used a Bind-it-All machine to add the spiral to the side. Makes a great journal! I wanted to start with some water and ink and just make a big mess but I didn't want it get on the underlying pages. So I put a page of card stock under my page for protection. You can tell it is one I keep and

Let's Make an Easy Postcard

Just a quick post today while I am feeling good. Eek! Some days are better than others concentration wise and today is good. You may have seen me post this postcard on Instagram or on my FB page. Looks really cool, doesn't it? And hard even? But it was so easy and I'm going to quickly walk you through it. And by 'quickly' I mean I forgot to take most of the photos. But we got this anyway!  I began with a Nostalgie watercolor postcard from Hahnemühle and used a wet onto dry technique. By that I mean I left the postcard dry, I didn't spray it with water first. I used my Schmincke watercolors and just painted splotches onto the card. I didn't fuss too much about the edges and just let the color work the way it wanted to. Looks like I used my four go-to colors.  Next I used a really cool stamp from Studio Light to add some background texture by way of flowers and insects. Just one long stamp used twice on the postcard. Then I used some of those same watercolors

The Gift of Tangles Concludes For 2023

The Gift of Tangles, 2023, has wrapped up and I wanted to catch you up with that before we start something new. In the last post I gave you tangles for December 16 - 22, but I didn't have art ready for all those days. Let me start this post by showing you the rest of the art I did for The Gift of Tangles starting with the above page for the 16th.  While running the events I am also working on a new book that will have at least 500 new tangles. It is hard to keep up when I am doing that. This page was done for the 18th when the tangle was Opus.  The 19th, the tangle of the day was Poinsettia. I used an old watercolor piece in the background.  I wasn't feeling the tangle for the 20th, so I substituted nebula instead. All these pages have been built in the daily journal I made using Bristol Illustration paper from Hahnemühle and my Bind-It-All machine . For the 21st I pulled out this Grinch setup drawn by Krista Leigh Smith and colored it with Copics. Most of the girl charac
