Kraft Paper Sketch Book From Hahnemühle Fine Art

Image
I posted this review several years ago on another blog. Many of you did not follow me there, so I thought I'd bring it back out and share the review with you today.  The Kraft Paper Sketch Book from Hahnemühle Fine Art .  Hahnemühle has entrusted me to work with their products and tell you about them. They trust me to play and give an honest review. All the thoughts here are mine. (But I can tell you a secret before you read any further - I absolutely love this book!) So let's go back to that first photo. I noticed as soon as I opened the plastic wrap,  this would be a super cover to tangle!  Or paint, or collage, or mixed mediapalooza,  whichever art style floats your boat.  Both front and back of the spiral book seems to be  covered in similar, but heavier, paper than the pages.  So I pulled out my Tombow Mono Drawing Pen and started having some fun!  The pen work went on like a dream!   Smooth, no skips, nothing on the surface of the  cover for my pen to hang up on.  Just

Checking My Progress

Image
Every once in awhile we all need to check our progress. Check where we came from and where we are going. Yes, I have had a lot of time sitting in a chair thinking since my surgery. Can you tell? Hahahahaha!  I had surgery at the beginning of November and have not tangled a thing since then. As I was putting the weekly plan together for my FB group Tangle All Around I thought this might be a good time for all of us to check our progress. We have a lot of new tanglers in the group, as well as skilled tanglers. The new tanglers are prone to compare themselves to the members who have been tangling for years. You. Yes, you. Don't fall into that trap. Compare yourself only to yourself. No one else counts.  In tangling, the easiest way to check your progress is to pull out that very first piece you drew - whether it was almost ten years ago like mine was OR whether it was from two weeks ago. Pull out that piece of art and use the same string and the same patterns and tangle it like you w

Black Book from Hahnemühle Review

Image
While I am resting and getting well I thought I could bring back some articles to enjoy again. This post first appeared on my last blog which is due to disappear before too long. Too many problems with it and during the pandemic I couldn't get help from the company that was hosting so I came back to blogger. And here I will stay. In the meantime, everything I had posted on that website is due to fade away when my agreement with them (and the money I paid them) is completed. But I digress.  I love drawing on black paper! Hahnemühle has a sketchbook I want to tell you about today. They simply call it the Black Book . And that is totally what it is. Hahahah! A spiral bound collection of 30 sheets/ 60 work surfaces of 120 lb. black paper. The book band says it is suitable for sketching and pastel work, so of course I tried everything else I could think of. Hahahaha! Let me walk you through my projects and tell you how the book performed.  To begin with - I really love the spiral. Yo

Update on Me

Image
So let's start with a happy photo.Yesterday I told you I would update you on my health today and that is what this post is all about. The good news is I can see a light at the end of the tunnel now. Before I was afraid the tunnel was blocked up and sealed forever. Not even kidding.  Don't worry. This is as graphic as this post gets. Back in the summer - late May, early June - I had a cough that I couldn't get rid of. At times I almost couldn't breathe. I went to four different doctor appointments and was Covid tested seven times (all negative) before someone finally asked if I had been x-rayed. Brilliant moment because no, no one had thought to do that. Finally on August 20, 2021, I went to the hospital and had this x-ray taken. The head of the x-ray department came straight to me and said I would not be allowed to leave the hospital. She escorted me to the ER based on this x-ray alone. Those open black areas are my lungs. You can see that the one on my left was almost
