  Just a quick post today while I am feeling good. Eek! Some days are better than others concentration wise and today is good. You may have seen me post this postcard on Instagram or on my FB page. Looks really cool, doesn't it? And hard even? But it was so easy and I'm going to quickly walk you through it. And by 'quickly' I mean I forgot to take most of the photos. But we got this anyway!  I began with a Nostalgie watercolor postcard from Hahnemühle and used a wet onto dry technique. By that I mean I left the postcard dry, I didn't spray it with water first. I used my Schmincke watercolors and just painted splotches onto the card. I didn't fuss too much about the edges and just let the color work the way it wanted to. Looks like I used my four go-to colors.  Next I used a really cool stamp from Studio Light to add some background texture by way of flowers and insects. Just one long stamp used twice on the postcard. Then I used some of those same watercolors...

  Making art on a daily basis is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I challenged myself with this idea back in January and apart from a week spent away for a wedding, I have pretty much been able to make a little art every day. And it has made a world of difference.  It helps to find an ongoing project to keep you inspired. Right now that is ICAD - Index Card a Day. Make a little art on an index card and call it good. √  Have other options on hand . I don't always feel like drawing or painting. For those days I keep a stack of ready to color drawings on hand. Mostly found on Pinterest while searching for free coloring pages. I love these Chris Ryniak art pieces - always fun. I print them out and color them with Copic markers. I try to pop a colored image in on every page. And I give credit to the original artist. That first page up top was for June 9 and 18, days #9 and #18 of ICAD.   Many of the tiles I tangle and many of my art journal pages begin with this quick and easy technique. Several years ago my husband purchased the complete set of Tombow dual brush pens as a Christmas gift for me. And now 5 or 6 years later I am still getting good use out of them. Whether on a coloring page or using them as watercolor, they have stood the test of time. Here is a short 59 second video to show you how I use them to make watercolored backgrounds. You can totally do this, too! Any water based marker will work. Not alcohol based, though. They don't work the same way. Have fun! I apologize for being absent. I am working really hard on a new book. It will contain 501 tangle patterns with step outs for each. Patterns were submitted from 86 different tangle artists from all over the world. Lord willing this book will be available within a month on Amazon worldwide. Working title? Life in Tangles. Kind of fitting for 2020, don't you think? 

Questions about storage of art supplies is a regular thing for me. When we moved from Florida to Maine I condensed two rooms into one small room and storage immediately became an issue.  I learned how to pack a lot of punch into a small amount of area. I could show you a lot with this one photo, but I want you to focus on the top shelf for today.   This case is just one of four that fit into a Plano Fishing Tackle Box I bought at Walmart years ago. I was big time into scrapbooking back then and scrapbooking storage could be expensive. Kali and I were at a Bass Pro in Orlando with Mark when we came across all the fishing tackle boxes. Our first thought was scrapbook boxes! Hahahaha! Price-wise we knew Walmart would have a better deal. I paid $10.00 for this great little carrier that came with four of these plastic storage containers that lock tight and store inside the overall case.
