Ocean Mini Art Journal

Image
Art has been hard to come by lately. Hard to make myself concentrate and focus to actually work on something. A couple weeks ago I showed you a mini art journal I made as part of a class with Marjie Kemper . Well I made another. Took me an entire week, I did a lot of staring out the window as I "worked" but I got it done. And I love it! This is my cover. And this time I worked with a theme throughout the book.  My plan is just run these pages and let you see them. I did want to tell you I used two sheets of 8.5" x 12" Bristol Illustration paper from Hahnemühle to make this 22-page book. The critters are all from Chris Ryniak and the miracle of Pinterest. Colored with my Copic markers.    Wasn't that fun? And these pages have a lot of sparkle that you just can't see in a photograph. Pages cut to three different sizes and sewn into two signatures. That background color is various shades of Tim Holtz' Distress Inks. I really love how this book turned ou

God is Good All The Time

This is me. Lover of dragons, bright color and happy things. Kitties, squirrels, chipmunks, and now we add a fox to the mix. Along with our moose and bear. But the last couple months have been rough. Many of you know I have been dealing with some health issues and a lot of uncertainty. But through it all one thing remains and that is God is good and He is in control. Once I got over the shock, I made a conscious decision that I wasn't going to accept anything less than 100% recovery. Operation 100% and now Mark, Carol, myself and you know that little fact. I needed to put a timeline together for the Pulmonologist, and I wanted it documented for myself. That is what I am sharing with you today. A timeline with pretty colors :).    And that is where things stand at this point. Still waiting to hear from a pulmonologist - we still need to find out why all that fluid happened in the first place. Those doctors are all tied up with Covid patients and do not have time for 'regular'

Fall Into Fall Tangling

Image
September was a busy month of tangling. One section at a time. September has thirty days. My Facebook group Tangle All Around worked on one large piece of tangled art - a little each day during the month of September. This is my completed project. Let me walk you through what we did. I began with a 10.5" tile that I sprayed with bubblegum pink and lemon zest Dylusions Ink Sprays. Seriously my favorite colors of choice that aren't watercolors. The template in the middle is what I gave my group to work with and I encouraged them to design their own thirty day template if they wanted to. And a few did.  I began by tracing a 2" tile in the center and added all the pencil lines to divide my tile into thirty sections. If you count you will notice there are not thirty spaces. Yet. I was still adding lines. For the second square I traced a 4.5" tile. This is a tangle time when it is a good idea to pull out that ruler! Hahahahaha!  Each week during September I gave the group

Leaves Are Falling in Maine

Image
Fall has come to Maine. And as beautiful as it is, it also means winter is coming. I am hoping fall will stay here for awhile before we have to contend with the snow. Our yard is usually the last place for the leaves to change colors around here, but as you can see our trees are lightening up just fine!  Tracy Weinzapfel is currently leading a class called GrateFALL HeART Journal Challenge and the second day we worked with leaves. Real ones collected from our yards. Mark and I walked our tree line and picked up several different kinds - that I forgot to take photos of. So here you see two dried up ones I pulled out of the trash but they give you an idea. I used about four or five different leaves in my art. I began by prepping two pages. Schmincke watercolors and they are still wet in this photo. I tried to go with colors that we have in our yard.  And dry. I love the colors! You know, Tracy charges for this class. So, I can not tell you step by step what we did. But I think you are

Ecoline Liquids and Indigo Art Book

Image
Ecoline Liquid Watercolors are proving to be one of my favorite art supplies when it comes to flower making. Or anything I want bright, beautiful color for! About a month ago I posted this photo on Instagram and it has proven to be one of my most liked pieces of art. I'd like to show you how it all came together.  I began with a new journal I'm trying out. The book itself is called Indigo Art Papers, here is a link to the one I have. A little spendy but I think worth the price. One nice thing that I will probably never use - look at this photo. About 1/2" to the right of the coils - see where the paper looks a little different? These hand made pages are made so you can tear the page out if you wish and have that cool hand torn look on all four sides. For supplies I grabbed a mop brush and some bright Ecoline colors. And my water jar.  Using the mop brush I literally slopped water all over the page. And then took a dropper of ultramarine violet and squeezed it into the wat
