A Little Twinchietober Fun

I have to apologize for not getting the week three tangles to you earlier. Twinchietober is going great at Tangle All Around on Facebook. The October 15th tangle Bridges was designed by Randi Ziegler. A tangleation of Sharps which Randi Jameson introduced in the book Life in Tangles

My husband had a full hip replacement surgery at the beginning of this week and I have been busy taking care of him, getting him on his feet and he is doing great!

On October 16th we worked with Champ, designed by Antje Romers. It is a great fill pattern and it can be used as a fragment.

Let me give you a few points in case you are new to Twinchietober. A twinchie is a 2" square of paper that we draw our designs on. And since we are doing this in October I came up with the name Twinchietober.

All the patterns - or tangles - we are using were designed by members of my FB group Tangle All Around. The October 17th pattern is Connect, designed by Shweta Bansal.

We are drawing the tangles on our two inch squares. Some people are using just the one pattern on their twinchie. Some people are mixing the daily tangle with other tangles for their art. The October 18th pattern is Cordo, designed by Theresa Levy. Cordo is a great border tangle that can also be used as a fragment.

October 19th gave us the tangle Dark Busters, designed by Diana Marshall. She has some seriously great patterns. This particular one offers the chance for some excellent contrast. You can follow Diana on Instagram by clicking here

October 20th, Lepal, designed by Toni Friese. Lepal makes a great border. You can also use it as a string.

And October 21st finishes up week three. Maze, designed by Tina Chen, CZT, proved to be a challenging tangle. Fun and definitely worth practicing and drawing.

Each week I give the group a mandala string. You can print this and tangle it OR you can recreate it by hand on any size paper you wish to work with. Fill the sections with some of this week's tangles OR other tangles of your own choosing. I love to see how every one finishes these!

String #1. Strings are normally drawn in pencil. As you fill the sections (or combine sections) with tangles and shade, the pencil line typically disappears into your background. You can use this week's patterns or any that you enjoy. Any size paper you want to use is fine.

String #2. And that wraps up week three of Twinchietober. Now, let's move on to week four. Because that starts today.

October 22nd, begins a new week. Moebius was designed by Sandra Strait. You may have seen her many tangles online under the name of Molossus or Life Imitates Doodles. This particular tangle is perfect for adding tangles within the design itself - a tangle within a tangle.

October 23rd, Mooka Chain was designed by Randi Jameson. A tangleation of mooka, mooka chain looks beautiful shaded in the round!

Musik Lace is another tangle from Randi Jameson. It is October 24th's pattern. I really like the ways Randi used musik lace in her examples.

October 25th, Olin was designed by Smita Toke. It can be used as a border AND it can be used to fill areas within your string. Smita does this so well.

October 26th, DDD by Barbara Johnson, CZT. What a beautiful pattern! You can also use DDD as a fragment.

Velma Ensey designed Dripping Petals which we will use October 27th. Are you familiar with cadent? Dripping Petals has the same idea in the way it begins but finishes with some additional details.

Smita Toke designed our October 28th tangle Feather-Touch. Simply beautiful! Look at that highlight shine!

Our mandala for week four. Remember you can either print this out and tangle OR recreate it yourself on paper and tangle.

String #1. Either use this week's tangles OR patterns of your own choosing. I usually begin everything with printemps.

String #2. And that completes week four. Just a few days left of Twinchietober then we will start a little study of fragments. I have some homework to do before then to figure out exactly how we are going to attack that. Hahahaha! I am sure it will be fine.

Mark is almost ready to transition to a cane. His sister is coming tomorrow to take us out for lunch. It will be his first time going into 'people' since his surgery on Monday. I know he will do just fine, but we would still appreciate your prayers while his body heals from this hip replacement. Have a great week!

  1. Hmm - this now insists I leave a comment anonymously!! Or I'm missing something, it has been letting put the name Evy Browning. Anyhow - good to hear Mark is making a good recovery from surgery, hope you have a lovely time with his sister. I love the way you're introducing the next topic of Fragments by commenting on the Twinchietober patterns when they can be used as a fragment. Or maybe I'm just aware of it now I know it's going to be the next topic. This is going to be fascinating & such a brilliant topic to address.

    1. this blogpost is an unpredictable at best format. it won't even let me leave you this response comment. I type, then it sends it to my email to approve the comment. it is really strange. we did have a really good visit today with Sandy and Dale. we went out to eat and they help me do a couple things here at the house that mark hasn't been able to help with.

    2. Ha - it's changed its mind!!! Glad you were able to have some help with things, I'm so pleased you're well enough to be managing whilst Mark's recovering, it's quite remarkable considering where you were at such a short time ago. I'm so grateful He answers prayer & lets us be part of His work, it just encourages so much.
