He(art) Journal Challenge With Tracy

Calling this one done √ I am taking the 5 Day Heart Art Journal Challenge with Tracy Weinzapfel and having a blast! I will put a link to the class at the bottom of this post. All material will be available till the end of March, so you still have time to jump in!

I will start by saying this is a paid class. $10.00 which makes it very affordable. I can not give away the tips and techniques from the class - you can buy those for yourself - but I can show you our first project. Watercolors for this one.

Tracy's classes are so much fun! She is a talker! Hahahaha! And a laugher! I watch the class live, take what notes I feel like I need to, then once class is over I make the art part happen. I like to be able to just watch and laugh and read everyones' comments as the class is happening live.

This is the point where most people stopped their project and called it done. I really don't like red, though we are using it a lot. Hahahaha! This just looked too dark for me. I bet you already know what I added next.

I am making these photos larger so you can see them better. I added a little line of white dots. But . . .

. . . it still didn't seem complete. So I added a bunch of white highlights. Yep, you already knew that was what I was going to do, didn't you? Hearts and red, so not my normal things, but I really do love how this turned out! Thank you, Tracy!

In case you were wondering, I am working in a Grumbacher Watercolor book. It is the one Tracy recommended for the class but any decent mixed media or watercolor paper will work just fine.

  2. I did think it was going to be white penwork & it was!! It does make such a difference. I love the way you used actual tangles for your patterns rather than just doodles. I know that many people use doodles but a 'doodle' is one of those & a 'tangle' is a different kind/creature/species. The white dots on knightsbridge are so effective & really make that stand out.
