Using Gel Prints for ATCs

Can I just say I love monoprinting? Gelli Arts has some wonderful gel printing plates and mine is getting a serious workout!

This 5" x 7" print was made on Bristol Illustration paper from Hahnemühle. Pretty much the perfect paper for monoprinting. Recently I took a Tracy Weinzapfel class where we used postcards to create beautiful floral artworks. For each day of the class I chose to work on gelli prints I had on hand. When the class was completed, I didn't want to stop! And I had a swap for Creative Crafty Friends that I needed to make three anything goes ATCs for. Perfect! I started my first ATC with this print.

I began by cutting a 2.5" x 3.5" piece for my ATC. The rest of that page went back in the drawer to be used on a later project. This is the ATC I made. I love how you can still see the background showing through all that red and yellow!

But . . . you learn by doing and I thought that background might have been a little dark. For the next ATC I chose lighter for my background. I really like this one! Again, I began by cutting out a 2.5" x 3.5" section for the ATC.

Hard to see, but I promise this is it. Love how this one turned out! And the rest of that print did not go to waste. Want to see what I did with it?

Here it is in the background on one of my daily journaling pages. Nothing goes to waste in my studio - not if I can help it.

And apparently I forgot to get a before photo of this one. Typical me. Hahahahaha! Don't you love the speckles on that heart? Tracy's ideas for class transfer over into other sizes very well. A little trickier on the much smaller ATC but the ideas certainly worked. And even better - Rebecca loved them!

Interested in a Tracy Weinzapfel class? She has another one starting soon called 5-Day Heart Art Journal Challenge. You can find information and sign up by clicking here. I will be there for sure!

  2. I can't decide which is my favourite - I think it has to be that huge sunflower. I see you're getting bolder using brilliant red too - looks brilliant the way you're using it.
