Summer Tag Swap

Some collage art for you today. Creative Crafty Friends is holding a Summer Tag Swap and I thought I'd like to join in. Collage work is something I love but don't do often enough. Let me show you what I did.

Joggles recently had a sale on tags and I got a bunch of them! All ready to play with! On the bottom is one of my several printing plates from Gelli Arts. First of all I spread out a layer of Shimmer Shimmer Paint in yellow, then placed down this Jim Holtz stencil, and made a lift. That removed the yellow from everywhere except under the roses themselves.

Then I removed the stencil. Every line that was under the stencil - the roses - still had yellow. Leaving those yellow roses right on the plate, I rolled out a layer of pink right over the top. Then I placed one of my cool Joggles tags into the middle of the plate and made a lift. And of course I pretty much always ink the edges of everything. Yep. You can take that one to the bank. Cause it's a thing.

Here are the tags I made. The two on the right are clean up tags. Just faint impressions of flowers. The pink one is pretty dark. There are gold roses under that pink but they are hard to photograph. I used the first two to make my summer tags.

Of course I forgot to take photos while I worked. Hahahaha! Sorry! The flamingo and dragonfly came from a couple Collage Sheets from Joggles. The flowers and the suitcase girl came from Joggles, too. I just don't think she sells these any longer. And this was the first time ever I pulled out my Pixie craft sewing machine to stitch - crookedly - around the edges of the tag. I bought the machine about 6 or 7 years ago and have just now brought it out. It worked great! Other than the whole stopping part. I need to work on that some more.

All these elements - except the word box - came from Joggles. I will find links for the ones she still sells. Remember anywhere you see pink letters - that is a link to somewhere out there. Hahahahaha! Cause pink = link.

Want to join in on some fun swaps? Check it out at Creative Crafty Friends on Facebook. There is always something fun and creative going on there.

  1. You should collage more often - you do it so wonderfully. These are both spectacular!

  2. I saw the stitching & thought - "Did Alice do those? Haven't seen stitching before" & decided to read on before my brain did further somersaults.......... Love the way the yellow stitching picks out the yellow elements in each of the tags. They certainly look summery.
