Having a Fun Weekend!

This weekend got off to a great start with the Frankles popping in Saturday morning for a bit of a sleepover. She and I played a lot of Animal Crossing and talked about our future plans for our little gaming towns and the Villagers. It was epic. And we talked literally non-stop for hours. When she finally pooped out and went to bed, I sat in my studio and tangled. The tiles I want to show you today are cut from Bristol Illustrated paper from Hahnemühle. The color on this one for October 3rd is from Lindy's Magicals. I haven't worked with Lindy's products in awhile, I need to pull them back out. I love the colors. What you don't see in this photo is all the sparkle. That's the magical part. The tangle is called Siri and it's from Simone Menzel, CZT.














And I did a little cheat. I also tangled a tile for today - October 4th - the tangle is Meshmerize from Tomas Padros. The color is Daler Rowney acrylic inks used like watercolors. This was the first time I tried meshmerize. I had always been intimidated by it in the past, which is why I chose it as one of the tangles for Octangling. When a tangle intimidates - just do it √ and you will probably be surprised at how it turns out. These two tiles will probably go into my art journal and you will most likely see them again when they do. Pretend like it's a surprise, ok? 











I mentioned the Frankles. Well, here she is! She's so much fun! She has great attitude and I swear she is so smart! Don't we all say that about our grandkids (and kids) but she really is! And yes, she is missing a lot of teeth! Hahahaha! Four on the top and two on the bottom!

I am working hard on the new book so please excuse if I don't post every day. I currently have 391 patterns stepped-out for the book and have a load more to go. It takes a long time to accomplish what I'm trying to accomplish. And then - I am taking a book break. I want some time to work on art for me. And more time to devote to the companies I have made promises to. Like Hahnemühle, Zebra Pen and Leda Art Supply. And you will see the results here as posts.       weird, I am just now seeing this comment. it didn't come to me as an email - which it should have. blogger still has issues, I am finding out. either way. we had a great time! get your pens and draw something :)

    Awwwww the "Frankles" (her real name or a nickname??) is just adorable!! Even with so many teeth missing! Lol ... Beautiful tangling, Alice, and fabulous color ... as always. :)

    Both these tangles look like my thing so I'm noting them mentally for the moment - too much to try & get done with new working hours & getting appointments & groceries fitted in between. Glad you had a lovely time with the Frankles - looks like she's going to be one for colour too.

  Each year during the months of June and July, Tammy Garcia (Daisy Yellow) sponsors an event she named ICAD. Stands for index card a day . The thought is each day for 61 days you create some art on an index card. Any kind of art. Any size index card. Any medium. In Facebook group Tangle All Around I encourage our members to give ICAD a try. I am working with 4" x6" index cards. If you don't have any you can cut your own from the paper you like to work with. For all 61 days I give a tangle prompt.  For June 1st, day #1, we used 4C Ruiten designed by Nicole Dreyer. My card for the day can be seen above. I love using color and lately I love working with Krista Leigh Smith 's drawings that I can color with my Copic markers. Tangled Dragonflies All Around

What do steampunk and dragonflies have in common? Tangle All Around! Hahaha! My tangling Facebook group called Tangle All Around is providing the art today. In June and July we are working with patterns that go well with steampunk art. Don't like steampunk? That's alright, too. These patterns will work in your regular tangle routine as well.  I provided a dragonfly template to the group and asked them to tangle it using any of the steampunk patterns they wanted to and I welcomed them to use any other tangles they needed. This is the dragonfly I made using some of the patterns from week one. This is the template I gave the group. ICAD, Days 11 - 30

  ICAD - or Index Card a Day - is over now. Every year it runs during the months of June and July and we participate in Tangle All Around .  Art on an index card. Any kind of art but in TAA I specifically ask them to use a tangle. And each day I give them a tangle to use.  Since I did chemo I just don't have the urge to make art. Of any kind. I have to make myself sit down and create. I found that working on this index card size of 4" x 6" worked for me. And I did great during June. I honestly have no idea what happened in July. But I do want to get back to making these cards AND I can use them on my daily journal pages. You know - those pages I do about once a month. The story of my life.
