Revisiting Nebula
What are you tangling lately? I have been working seriously hard on a new book and haven't had a lot of time to tangle for myself. But . . . when I do I like to work on underwater scenes or outer space, crazy skies or gardens. I posted this tangle almost three years ago. I love it because it fits with all the ways I like to draw. Hahahahaha!
I love this piece of art so much! Hahahaha! It was fun! An example of that outer space thing. I did not make the background. It belongs to my dear friend Geneviéve Crabe. She does a lot of digital art, including these backgrounds in various formats that you can purchase and print out to use. On occasion Geneviéve lets me preview and experiment before they go live for purchase. This was one of those times. Here is a link for these pages in her store Amaryllis Creations. Colorful Backgrounds I and II. You can't go wrong with pink and blue. My tangle Ringz just felt like a good fit with this background, but it needed something else. I added in a sweet little Lilah Bean spaceship but it needed something floaty. And that is where nebula came into play. Similar to Michele Beauchamp's popsicles tangle, but with more flexibility, more possibilities. Vary the auras and fills.
Here you can see what happens when you morph nebula into something bigger. Hahaha! I made the background on Bamboo Mixed Media paper from Hahnemühle with Schmincke watercolors. Just swishing color here and there. When I finished with the color nebula just popped into mind! Perfect for this background! What do you think? I would love to see you use nebula in a piece of your own art!
Nebula is one of 450+ patterns in Tangle All Around the World. I published this book in 2019. It features tangles from 50 artists from all around the globe. The one thing the artists have in common is they are all members of my Facebook group Tangle All Around. I am getting ready to publish a second volume of 500+ tangles with instructions from 88 artists. Keep an eye out for it coming worldwide in November on Amazon. In the meantime, have fun with Nebula.
Bamboo Mixed Media from Hahnemühle is available here.
I love Geneviéve's backgrounds and your artwork is perfect for them!
ReplyDeletethey are a quick way to make art when you need some color - and they are so beautiful! she does a great job with them!
DeleteThat's fine dear Alice, I can't wait to see your new book. It's no problem, I'm glad to see some of my tangles in your new book. That's so exciting for me! Thank you so much. <3
DeleteWow, I love this pattern dear Alice. I have the book from last year, it's so wonderful!
ReplyDeletebut this new book is going to include a lot of your tangles - I couldn't fit them all in, but I tried <3
DeleteI can't wait! I hope you love the book
DeleteInteresting seeing your variation of Nebula. However, it's that first one that I particularly like -the original with the Printemps centre & rounding on the outer aura. Nebula is a perfect name for it. Hope the book is reasonably straightforward when it comes to publishing.
ReplyDeleteyes, the first one is my favorite, too. working with nebula last night a little
