A Tangled Thankful
Working on Life in Tangles was all-consuming. I did manage to make a few pieces of art along the way and today I want to show you one tile I made as part of Gratitangles, 2020.
The thought with Gratitangles was to take a little time each day to enjoy a cup of coffee - or tea - and draw and give thanks. As I drew I thought about what I was thankful for on that particular day. I was thinking about my granddaughters. No grandsons, but we do have four beautiful granddaughters and I wanted to remember them on that morning. I decided at the start of Gratitangles that I was going to write on my tile exactly what I was thankful for. Something I'd never done before - writing on my tile. That meant this tile needed to be divided into four sections.
I used a Super Marble pen from Zebra Pen for my dividers. These pens have a couple different color inks in them and they marble as you draw.
Really fun pens to tangle with!
And just that fast I had my two dividing arms tangled and my tile split into four sections.
Remember I decided to write what I was thankful for directly on my tile, so I added a granddaughter's name in each of the sections. And then it was time to add more tangles.
Since the divider bars were open I knew I needed to add some contrast with my tangles. Sarah, Savannah, Jordan and Frankie. Each girl special. Each unique and beautiful. And each greatly loved and appreciated. Shading came last, then my tile was done. This is something simple that any of you can do. Just take a few minutes to think about what you are thankful for and commemorate it through some type of art.
Last, I added the tile into my journal I'm working in this year. The journal was made using Bristol Illustration paper from Hahnemühle. All my favorite things are going into it. Especially the things I am thankful for. Like my beautiful girls.
Bristol Illustration from Hahnemühle can be purchased here.
These are fabulous! I have some of those marbling pens somewhere, and I don't think I ever used them, lol. I should find them and give them a go.
ReplyDeleteI usually forget about them, too. haha! I really do like them, though, Zebra Pen doesn't seem to carry them on their website any longer but Jet Pen does :)

DeleteThis tile is such a lovely one in it's understated 'simplicity'. A perfect addition to your journal too since it contrasts so well with that bright bottom right tile. The brown area transitions nicely between the two tile too.
ReplyDeletesometimes 'simplicity' is all I can handle. hahaha!
