World Watercolor Month is coming to Doodlewash!


All month long in July we will be celebrating World Watercolor Month with daily prompts and lots of beautiful art! And this year I get to be an Artist Ambassador!!!! 









As an Artist Ambassador I will be reviewing product from Da Vinci. And I get the great honor of having my artwork displayed on a collectible artist bag available in two sizes in the Doodlewash Shop! So exciting! And even better - 100% of the proceeds go to the International Child Art Foundation! We have some amazing sponsors this year and a bunch of artists participating. I hope you will go to Doodlewash and purchase one of my bags! Or several! Hahahaha! They make great gifts! I have a couple bags from years past and they are great quality - sturdy and durable. There are a total of 14 artist bags available. 



Charlie O'Shields has already released the prompts for July. If you are a member of Tangle All Around - we will be incorporating these watercolor prompts into our work for the month of July. More information about that later, but for now  . . . go buy a bag or three. <3

    I ordered large and small zipper pouches with your beautiful design, Alice. I'm happy to support art education in any way. Also, I'm going to attempt watercolor and gouache painting, because I love how you mix the colors with your tangling. You are such an inspiration. Thank you for showing your step by step instructions and beautiful artwork. I just ordered the needed supplies and I'm really excited to start.

  If you can dream it - you can do it! Wise words to remember and live by. Quick post here just to share this daily journal page I made a few days ago AND to give you some news about the new book. First though - this journal page.  Like always I am working in my Harmony hot pressed journal from Hahnemühle . I love it. Sometimes I do one day on a page like this one. Sometimes I split the page in half and use it for two days. The little Hedwig-Gryffindor-wannabe is a drawing by Chris Ryniak that I colored to look like a Harry Potter character - Hedwig, Harry's owl. The background is bits and pieces of scraps from a number of projects. Some of the tangled blocks are from Octangling this past year and one is from a page I made for the Tangle It! Coloring Book several years ago.  Tangle All Around: Our Art, Our Journey is already available at these Amazon locations online. Tangled Dragonflies All Around

What do steampunk and dragonflies have in common? Tangle All Around! Hahaha! My tangling Facebook group called Tangle All Around is providing the art today. In June and July we are working with patterns that go well with steampunk art. Don't like steampunk? That's alright, too. These patterns will work in your regular tangle routine as well.  I provided a dragonfly template to the group and asked them to tangle it using any of the steampunk patterns they wanted to and I welcomed them to use any other tangles they needed. This is the dragonfly I made using some of the patterns from week one. This is the template I gave the group. Some people printed it out and tangled, and some people free-handed the template and went from there. Let me show you the beautiful art my talented group made. Octangling, 2020 Has Begun

  That post title is a way hopeful statement. Hahahahahaha! I haven't even started my first day tile yet and the day is over half way done. I have too many things I am trying to do all at once. But. Octangling for this year has begun in my Facebook group Tangle All Around . And I am already seeing some lovely pieces of art! You may be asking . . . what is Octangling. I am glad you asked. There is a young man who started an event years ago he dubbed Inktober. Every October he encourages people like you and me to draw something every day during the month. Nothing fancy, nothing we can't all do. And he gives a prompt for each day to give you an idea of what to draw. Our FB group has participated the past 3 years using a list of tangles I give them. This year I hesitate to use his name for the project because he is suing a lot of people and companies for selling pieces of art they made during his monthlong project. So.
