Journaling With ICAD
Last month we worked on ICAD - index card a day. Each day we made a piece of art on an index card. I still wanted to work on my daily journal, so I incorporated two days' cards onto one page. And added elements, my final touches. Let's look at how I did this and check out some beautiful watercolors along the way!
This is a gorgeous set of paints from Kuretake! One day I need to learn how to pronounce that, but that is not today. I took a 4" x 6" piece of Hahnemühle's Harmony Hot Pressed watercolor paper, stitched around the edges with my craft machine, then painted on all this beautiful color! Yes, they really are this bright.
For the center, I brought out my FINETEC Premium Pearlescent watercolors and added a couple colors. I was thinking how the gem stones we see so often in tangling have two or more colors in their makeup. With FINETEC I get the added bonus of sparkle! Win/win.
Going back to the Kuretake Gem Colors, I painted the petals. The black Sharpie and a white Posca Paint Pen added all the details.
Beautiful colors! I love bold and bright!
This journal is a Harmony Hot Pressed Watercolor journal from Hahnemühle. I am on my fourth one. This page began with a piece of alcohol ink art that I cut intro strips and adhered with some scor tape. Then I took two ICAD pieces and adhered them the same way. From there I added a cute little Chris Ryniak piece of art that I colored with Copics and some word strips, then my Zig Clean Color Dot lines that I'm using on every page of my daily journaling. Easy peasy and I was done! It really is just that easy to put a cool page like this together. Save your scraps and little bits and pieces because you never know what will be useful where.
If you are not already subscribed to my blog I would ask you to consider it. There is a subscribe by email block in the left sidebar. Every post I make will drop straight into your email inbox. Have a great day!

Thanks. I really enjoy working this way
DeleteYour daily journals are a treasure!
ReplyDeleteThanks. They are fun to look through.
DeleteI can see your scrapbooking skills emerging with the journalling, especially in that bottom right ICAD. Love the different ways you've used to make the dot pen borders. The FINETEC gem is quite stunning with the two colours & seeing it in contrast to the Kuretake watercolours. You're absolutely right about gemstones having more than one colour, I'd not really thought about that.
ReplyDeleteThese colors are all wonderful in their own ways.
