More FINETEC and Daily Journal Fun

Daily journaling has now turned into a semi weekly journaling event for me. I would like to do it more often but honestly, who has time. Hahaha! So each day I at least try to work on some element, even if it is small, that can then be used to make a page in my book.

I was working on a page this week and I began by adhering my painter's tape strips before I watercolored a couple blocks. When it came time to remove the tape, I had some problems. I used my heat source but it did not help.

When all the tape had been removed this was what I had left. Not happy. And honestly, if I had not already had a page of art on the other side, I would have thrown this sheet in the trash and kept going. But the front side was already filled and completed. What to do, what to do? My dad always told me 'nothing is so broken that it can't be fixed.' So I knew there was a solution.

It just so happened that Sandra and I were talking. Her advice was this - since I was the Washi Queen why not use washi tape? And that is what I did. I have an obscene amount of washi tape rolls and I came across these two I thought would be perfect.

I had these cute little blocks of board Robin Mead had sent me. Three inches square, I drew my flowers and watercolored them. This particular one was colored with Schmincke watercolors. I love their Brilliant Opera Rose!

This block I painted black first, then used a white Posca Paint Pen to draw my flower. The flower was painted with FINETEC Premium Pearlescent Watercolors. They are so shimmery and gorgeous!

I painted this flower with the same FINETEC colors. The card it is on is one I used to cover up areas on another project where I was doing a good bit of spatter painting. It was catching the over-spatter, so to speak. Hahaha! I used my craft sewing machine to add that zigzag border. So, what did I do next?

I put this page together. And I still have one of Robin's blocks to use on another page. Easy peasy and I love all the color! Daily journaling? It works when I have prompts to go with each day. Left on my own, not so much. Hahahaha! But I am creating art every day. You just don't always get to see it until down the road.

By the way, the subscribe block is back in the sidebar in case you or someone you know might be interested in receiving each post straight into their email as I make them. Have a great week!

  2. That really turned out brilliantly - love the way that colourful background of the left hand block ties in with the background of the pages themselves. The browny FINETEC are quite striking & that splattered piece of paper works excellently as the background for the flower.
