Art Journaling With Marlene and Chris

Image
So much fun this past week art journaling with two of my favorite artists! Or at least with their product. I wish it was in person! Could you imagine getting Chris Ryniak and Marlene together in the same room? And I could just take notes and photos and be amazed at how their brains work! I would love it! Hahahaha! I'm over here geeking out!  Art By Marlene is a Studio Light line carried by Joggles. It is where I literally do most of my art journal shopping. I started this page with Marlene's stencil called Flower Power and three Ranger Distress Ink colors. I used a blending tool to rub the color through the stencil, straight onto my page. Then a little pen work, loose and crazy to finish the flowers. The border of flowered paper at the bottom is from Marlene's Scrap Paper pad. The cloud, sun and little critter are drawings of Chris Ryniak that I colored with my Copic markers. I love his drawings, so fun to color!  On this page I reversed things by placing another p...

Art Making With School Supplies - Art On a Shoe String!

Image
Back around 2014 I started a series of posts I called Art on a Shoe String . Ways to make art without spending a fortune on supplies. Each year I posted when school supplies came out. I haven't done that in the past couple years and it is time for that to change.  At our home, we home schooled for 12 years. School supply shopping was a never ending venture with so many educational items on the market. Eventually our home school career came to an end and I started looking at school supplies in a whole new light.  This picture of the Frankles was taken during one of my AOSS photo trips in 2017. She was my helper that day and even gave me some ideas of her own. Love me some Frankles! That was then, this is now so let's jump right in!  I did my shopping trip at our local Walmart. Most people on my side of the globe have access to a Walmart . All the photos in this post are from there.  School supplies and items from other areas of the store can be used to make art...

Art Journaling Day Two

Image
Yesterday I shared some art journal pages I made recently as part of a swap in the FB group Creative Crafty Friends . We took two sheets of paper - I used Hahnemühle 's Bristol Illustration - and cut them to be 7" tall and 10" wide. Then we folded them in half so they made 7" tall by 5" wide page surfaces. Each page had four surfaces to add art on, making a total of eight pages using both sheets of paper. Have I confused you enough yet? Hahahaha! I showed you one sheet of 4 surfaces I journaled yesterday. Today I want to show you the other sheet. I colored the background on both sides using Ranger Distress Inks and a sponge applicator . The mouse and the fairy pieces are scraps of previous projects. The little hot dog guy is a Chris Ryniak character that I colored with Copic markers. Fun page! I am going to make it again and keep it for myself <3.  I used the distress inks on all four surfaces - both sides of this page - and again used some scrap pieces...

Art Journaling With Art by Marlene

Image
Love me some fun art journaling and the brighter and bolder the better! Art By Marlene recently released a new line of product she calls her Signature Collection. You know I just had to grab me some of it so I could art journal knowing my colors would be awesome with her elements! Haven't heard of Art By Marlene? She is all about fun and quirky and bright and colorful. All the things I love best. ( Now if she would just include a dragon here and there it would be perfect. Just sayin'. ) In Creative Crafty Friends on FB, we are swapping 5" x 7" art journal pages each month. We start with two pages that are 7" tall and 10" wide and fold them in half. This creates a signature with 8 work surfaces.  This is the first page of my work this month. I used Marlene's Flower Power stencil to lay down some background color on top of a clean off sheet I had started in teals and pinks and yellows. For color I used Ranger's Distress Inks. The girl is from Marlene...
