Making a Signature

Facebook group Creative Crafty Friends hosts a signature swap each month. Hmm. I had never made a signature like this. I wanted to do something special for the person I was swapping with and one thing I found out about her is this - she loves steampunk! Just like me!

I have a lot of steampunk stash. Most of it is from Stamperia. I pulled out various bits and put this thing together. And I want to walk you through the signature itself. Above is what I did for the cover. Various pieces glued and inked together.

I started with a piece of card stock cut to 7" x 10". I folded it in half making a folded piece measuring 5" wide and 7" tall. This is my first inside page. I made a pocket from a scrap and glued some elements on. And I stuffed some extra steampunk bits and pieces into the pocket.

Here are the interior pages. If you look close you will notice I added a flap over the seahorse. And I added more steampunk elements here and there.

Here is the third page with the flap opened up. I really love how this signature came together. I need to make one I can keep.

This is the back page. I added another flap which basically became pages 5 and 6. There is a pocket added to that flap, stuffed with additional pieces.

The flap makes page five. A lot of those gears are pieces I added from other bits of stash I keep on hand. I tried to add brown ink to the edges and make scuffs here and there to age the pages.

This is the back of the flap, page six. I love how this turned out so much! I need to pull my steampunk stash back out and see what else I can do.

As you can see . . . I really enjoy working with steampunk.
